Dyspepsia
Volunteer for our clinical trials and research studies on Functional Dyspepsia
Dyspepsia is also frequently known as indigestion and causes recurrent discomfort centered in the upper abdomen. Dyspepsia is a common condition affecting between 25 to 40% of adults.
Dyspepsia may cause the following symptoms, often severe enough to diminish the
quality of life for those who have the disease:
- Pain and discomfort centered in the upper abdomen,
often a gnawing or burning pain
- Early sense of fullness during or after eating
- Bloating
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Burping
Functional
Dyspepsia is diagnosed by a physician through a physical
exam, review of medical history and testing to rule out
more serious conditions.
No one knows for certain what causes functional dyspepsia,
although studies have shown it may be associated with
the abnormal function of muscles in certain organs of
the gastrointestinal tract or in the abnormal function
of the nerves that control those organs. There is no
cure for Functional Dyspepsia, but doctors have found
that the following may help manage its symptoms:
- Dietary advice
- Prescribed medications including antisecretory agents,
promotility agents, antidepressants and serotonin
antagonists
- Prescribed antidepressants
- Psychotherapy
- Alternative medicine
Living
with functional dyspepsia can cause pain and discomfort
and impede your normal, everyday activities. However,
dyspepsia research and clinical trials are offering hopeful
insights and innovative treatments.
If you have been diagnosed with – or think that you may
have – functional
dyspepsia, you may want to consider being a part of one
of our clinical trials. Our dyspepsia clinical trials
are fully supervised and observed by renowned physicians
in the gastrointestinal field. By volunteering for our
safe dyspepsia clinical trials you will have the opportunity
to try promising new treatments and help in the understanding
of your condition. If you are eligible for our dyspepsia
clinical trials, all medications, examinations and laboratory
tests are provided to you at no cost. Most clinical trials
also include compensation for your time and travel expenses.
